SPEECH BY PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA ELBEGDORJ TSAKHIA AT THE OPENING CEREMONY OF NATIONAL HOLIDAY NAADAM

My fellow countrymen Mongolians,
Honorary guests, ladies and gentleman,

Allow me to extend sincere greetings and heartfelt wishes for Mongol Naadam to the people of Mongolia, in Mongolia and all around the world.
This auspicious festival begins with the advent of the most enjoyable season of summer. Always the symbol of good spirit and fortune, this year’s Naadam brings many blessings upon our nation. This year sees the 850th Anniversary of Birthday of the great Chinggis Khaan falls. This year, elections of both the State Great Khural and Capital City Citizen’s Representatives’ Khural were successfully held, and our people have elected their representation who have commenced their service. In addition, few days are left until the opening of the XXX Summer Olympic Games.

Celebration of Mongol Naadam –the festival of Mongol pride is ready to commence. During Naadam, we Mongolians assemble with families and friends to heartily share our festivities and converse of good fortunes to come with pride for our history, culture, and traditions.
I extend my heartfelt greetings for a joyful festival to our respected elders, buoyant youth, and beloved children, to the entire people of Mongolia and our international guests who have come to Mongolia to join our celebration. I also wish speed, agility and strength to the participants of three manly competitions: wrestling, archery, and horse-racing.
I hereby declare from this honored podium that Naadam -the apex of joy and pride of the Mongolian people begins.
Welcome Naadam! Happy Naadam to all.
May the Eternal blue sky bless our country and our people for eternity.
