KAF Resident Representative Dr Schrappel awarded with “Polar Star” Order

President Elbegdorj awards Dr. Thomas Schrappel, Resident Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF) in Mongolia, with Order of Polar Star, in recognition of his valuable contribution to develop bilateral cooperation. Dr. Schrappel’s term of six years as the Resident Representative is nearing its end with numerous achievements to be upheld.

Following the award ceremony, the President stressed significant contributions political foundations of the Federal Republic of Germany have made so far in strengthening democracy, developing democratic governance and improving public political education in Mongolia, and expressed of his hopes of the continuation of such activities.

President Elbegdorj has also extended his gratitude towards KAF for its eminent efforts to increase local self-governance and refine electoral system, while emphasizing that Mongolia is nearing success in those regards.

In turn, Dr. Schrappel stressed that Mongolia was a role model in Asian region, with flourishing democratic structures. “Mongolia is an exemplar in the region, and in the whole Asian continent with her dynamic democracy. Our foundation will promote constructive and stable cooperation with Mongolia to develop its democratic system,” he said.
