Head of the Office of the President Mr. Dashjamts Battulga


 Mr. Dashjamts Battulga was born on May 18, 1961 in Ulaanbaatar, capital city of Mongolia. Having completed his secondary education in School #1 of Ulaanbaatar, Mr. Battulga left for the then Leningrad of the former USSR to study in the Institute of Engineering and Economics and majored in energy economics.
Mr. Battulga started his working career in 1984 as an economist at the Power Station #4 of Ulaanbaatar and in 1985 was promoted as a specialist, and shortly after as a senior specialist at the Ministry of Fuel and Energy. In 1989 Mr. Battulga was transferred from the Ministry to Darkhan thermal power station.
The democratic movement which began in the capital city in the winter of 1989, resonated in Darkhan, the second largest city in Mongolia. Mr. Battulga took the leading rows with his like-minded friends in the struggle for democracy and freedom. Together with President Elbegdorj, then already a passionate leader of the democratic revolution, Mr. Battulga and several other youth established the Mongolian Democratic Party in February 1990. Since then Mr. Battulga has served on important positions in the Democratic Party . In 1990 Mr. Battulga as appointed the Deputy Governor of the Darkhan City, and in the same year was elected the Member of the People’s Great Khural, and a Member of the State Small Khural, the First Permanent Parliament of Mongolia.
He led the Mongolian Democratic Union as its President in 1992-1996 until he was elected a Member of the State Great Khural in 1996. In the Parliament, Mr. Battulga headed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on State Institutions, during which he co-parented a number of laws fundamental for the new democratic order.
Mr. Battulga pursued business activities in the private sector since 2000 until 2005, when he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Ulaanbaatar Electricity Transmission Network, a State Enterprise.
In May 2010, President Elbegdorj entrusted a responsible mission to Mr. Battulga – head the Office of the President. In his capacity of the Head of the President’s Office, Battulga undertakes the organization and implementation of the policies and actions of the Head of State of Mongolia.
Mr. Battulga is a loving father of a girl and a boy and is a big fan of sports, and in particular – of soccer.
