Erkhembayar Lombo, Urban and Rural Development Policy

Born in 1962 in Ikhtamir soum (district) of Arkhangai aimag (province), Advisor Erkhembayar graduated from the Agriculture University in 1985 majoring in genetics and veterinary. He holds a PhD degree in genetics.

After graduation Mr. Erkhembayar worked in the livestock selection station as a senior specialist in his home province, until 1987, when he assumed the post of the Governor of Tariat soum of Arkhangai province. At the time he was also appointed to manage the country’s Selection board.

Between 1989-1992 Mr. Erkhembayar worked as a scientific researcher and a head of department at the Ikhtamir soum High Mountains Zone Scientific Research Center. He moved to head the Beet services and production company in 1992, until he was elected the Governor of Arkhangai province in 1996. In 1999 Mr. Erkhembayar moved to the capital city to work for the central Government as an officer in charge of rural issues.

In 2001, Mr. Erkhembayar joined the private sector and served on the boards of and advised Batnayad, Tumen Shuvuut agricultural production and services companies and the Eastern Mongolian Scientific and Production Center.
Mr. Erkhembayar has broad social affiliations – since 2003 he has been heading an agricultural NGO “Agro Devshil Kholboo”, and since 2007 – the Union of Mongolian Poultry-Farm Managers.

Mr. Erkhembayar has a diverse political background. He is elected to the City Council and serves on its Baord. He is a member of the National Consultative Committee of the Democratic Party and the City Consultative Committee of the Democratic Party. He is the chairman of Songinokhairkhan district Democratic Party.

Advisor Erkhembayar authored a couple of books and published the findings and results of a number of scientific research projects. He defended his doctoral degree in genetics on Some Selection Indicators of Mongolian Yaks. He co-authored a book “Options For Optimal Development of Livestock Husbandry in the Vicinity of Cities and Major Urban Areas”. He published more than 30 articles and essays.

Advisor Erkhembayar is married and has a daughter.
